About the spirit level
A spirit level (also called a bubble level) is a tool that shows whether a surface is horizontal (level) or vertical (plumb). Our online version uses the accelerometer in your smartphone to calculate the angle of tilt in real time, giving you the same reading as a physical level.
How to use
- Place your device flat on the surface you want to check.
- Tap Start and grant motion access if asked.
- Watch the bubble: when it is centered and the readout says 0°, the surface is perfectly level.
- If your phone is not factory-flat, tap Calibrate on a known-level surface to zero it out.
When you need a level
- Furniture & shelves: hang pictures and mount shelves perfectly straight.
- Appliances: level washing machines and fridges to prevent vibration.
- DIY projects: check tabletops, counters and decks before you fasten.
- Camera & tripod: keep the horizon straight in every shot.
